Allison Porter

Allison Porter [she/her] got her start in North Carolina in the 1980s, lying down in front of dump trucks in Warren County and knocking on screen doors in Durham’s West End. She spent the 90’s organizing unions in the South and Mid-Atlantic and testified on Capitol Hill that the process was rigged against workers. After her own experience learning the hard way, Allison helped start the AFL-CIO Organizing Institute, which opened the doors for thousands of organizers to join the labor movement. As a young mother of 3, she went back to school and began consulting and coaching. Over twenty years later, she continues her passion for helping to get things started, working with her amazing partners at Imagine Us and Ignite the South.
